I’m still on a sun-soaked, mid century modern high from my trip to Palm Springs. Seriously, I’m SO glad I decided to go there for vacation. It was so inspiring. It had everything I wanted in a vacation and I have a feeling I will be going back.

Some trip highlights were going to the SHAG gallery and shop downtown. I’ve been a huge fan of his art for 10 years or so now. And also going on an architecture tour, led by “architectural man about town” Robert Imber. And of course relaxing by our pool.

Chasing Paper – Featured Designer!

Today I’m the Chasing Paper blog as their featured designer! I love seeing the words “featured designer” next to my name and it’s been amazing seeing my designs come to life on Chasing Paper’s beautiful paper.

Tomorrow I’m heading off for a much-needed vacay. Very excited to get inspired and take lots of pictures!

Jazz in the Park T-shirt

A few months ago my friend told me about the East Town Association’s Jazz in the Park t-shirt contest and decided to throw a design out there. Summer music festivals in Milwaukee are always one of my favorite things so I thought what the heck, I’ll give it a shot.

I don’t really have a great track record for winning design contests so I didn’t really worry about it too much and just did something that I liked….

Retro-inspired beatnik animals.. yes I think so!

So anyways… I just found out that I won the contest the other day! I was very surprised and excited! Can’t wait to see people wearing them this summer… if summer every comes (sadly it was snowing today bluh!)

I’m so proud to present my beautiful new website! How thrilling to see my best surface design all featured in a lovely, cohesive package! Whew…

On to other exciting news. I’m also thrilled to announce my partnership with Chasing Paper, a chic new removable wallpaper company based in New York, but printed here in Milwaukee. A few months ago, I was contacted by the company’s founder Elizabeth Rees and we’ve been hard at work collaborating on some exclusive patterns for Chasing Paper.

Above are my four designs; Urban Jungle, Tribal, Sunstone and my personal favorite Fern-a-topia.

I’ve loved working with Chasing Paper and let me tell you, I was not at all sad to spend my weekends and several Saturday nights in working on these designs! They’ve also been featured in a bevy of hot design blogs and websites! Such as…

I think there will certainly be more news to come from Chasing Paper and I’m so excited to be a part of the action!

Lisa Ridgely & the Fainting Room

My friend Lisa of Lisa Ridgely and the Fainting Room recently asked me if I would design a poster for their upcoming gig at Frank’s Power Plant and I was happy to oblige! I love their music.

I wanted to come up with something that was folksy but feminine and a little inspired by a western Wanted poster without being too literal. I’ll definitely be checking them out on Feb. 22!

Mardi Gras contest

Let the good times roll! Here’s my entry for spoonflower’s Mari Gras contest this week.

I decided to stray away from the traditional color palette of purple, green and yellow and went with something a little a little different. I was thinking about a parade at night with city lights flashing.

Happy New Year!

I did some reflecting on 2012 and it was a really busy and exciting year. I had so many wonderful opportunities from being featured in the Journal Sentinel 3 times, to having having a sewing challenge based on my My Fair Milwaukee collection, to getting my Matisse-inspired design up in Duke University’s art museum. And I’ve met so many amazing and supportive friends in the Milwaukee community and my spoonflower community this year.

I’m excited to see what’s in store for 2013!
