It was my 29th birthday a few days ago and it’s also my one year blogiversary! To commemorate this occasion I thought I’d post some pictures of my bedroom decor throughout the years.
Me in middle school, maybe 1994ish. An awkward and messy not a child and not yet a teen bedroom. I got to pick the cream colored walls and blue carpet. It was an improvement over the former boys bedroom I moved into that had a mural of drummer boys and pea green walls!
My poster and magazine plastered room in high school. I wonder what 90s treasures are lurking in this closet? A dress from Delia’s? A velour mock turtleneck? An oversized sweater with ski stripes?
I think the N Sync poster was supposed to be ironic….
My freshman dorm room 2000… oh Mulder and Scully, your paranormal chemistry was smoldering!
I don’t remember our tv ever being that small!
Finally, I learned that making the bed was a good thing! My bedroom on the east side 2006, looking a little tiki-ish here. I used a bamboo floor mat and nailed it to the wall for a headboard. I LOVE that bedspread from Garnet Hill.
A new slightly more mature bedspread in GASP a neutral! Also from Garnet Hill. I made the fabric covered headboard and lamps were found at TJ Max in Green Bay. Love that West Elm starburst mirror!
And here we are in my present apartment! The walls came painted this slate blue and it actually works great with my things. I framed some Snow & Graham wrapping paper for a pop of color.
Your bedroom is the first place you can really express your personal style as a kid. It’s pretty fun to see how my tastes have changed and in some cases stayed the same over the years. I may have ditched the Powerpuff Girls poster, but I totally have plaid, orange sheets under that neutral bedspread!
