Lynden Sculpture Garden

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Last Sunday I went to the Lynden Sculpture Garden with my sister and brother-in-law. It was a beautiful day despite the fact that my appendix was a ticking time bomb ready to set off some unpleasant events later to come. It’s hard to believe that this incredible collection of sculptures was once a hidden, private collection you would never even know was there driving down Brown Deer Road. They just made it public this past May. It belongs to the super wealthy Milwaukee family, the Bradley’s.

Here are some of my favorite pictures. A nice contrast to the Forevertron pics, I think. My favorite sculpture was a bright orange round piece that rotated in the middle of a pond. It totally reminded me of a Knoll womb chair.

Surreal fruit

Well it’s that time of the week again. Spoonflower’s weekly fabric design contest. This week the theme was “Surreal Fruit”. I think a lot of people who submitted designs, myself included, were inspired by Magritte’s “Son of Man”.

Smooth Sailing

Hey y’all. After taking the past two weeks off of Spoonflower fabric contest mania, here’s my latest for the nautical theme contest. Very inspired by Marimekko designs that I had on my bedspread as a kid.

Spring Break in the Big Easy

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I just got back from a road trip to New Orleans last week. It was a loong 16 hour drive, but well worth it! As we drove further south it was fun to see the leaves start to pop and the grass getting greener. However, not fun watching it all gradually go away and turn brown as we drove back north. I thought I’d post some of my favorite pictures of this beautiful city full of character and flavor:

Here I am trying on the t-shirt I designed for my boss’s friend’s up north Wisconsin cottage. He wanted it to haveĀ  a bear and wolf in a “Hanna Barbera” 60s style. Totally up my alley! Makes me think of good times “Up Nort” with friends like the time my sister and a friend and I stayed at the Hiawatha Motor Lodge in Eagle River.

Here is a better picture of the art. Love it!

christmas craftin

After much convincing from my sister to organize my craft materials I finally took everything out of the random ziploc bags and put them into my old art bin I used in college. It has little compartments that work really well for sequin, beads, needles and thread. It’s so much easier to find things now!

Here are some more felt ornaments I did and my Christmas decor also…
